What makes a self-care routine witchy? What does witchy even mean?
For me it means utilizing natural elements and adding a more spiritual, open-minded aspect to self-care. A bit of mystery, magick, and tuning into the unseen and overlooked.
Listening. Trusting. Flowing with energy. Allowing. Stepping into your power.
Here's how I add witchy elements to my self-care routine:
WORKING WITH THE MOON
This means I usually have four self-care rituals each month around the 4 main moon phases, and every morning I fill out a grounding morning sheet that is tailored to the current moon phase.
The moon has four main phases: reflecting and setting intentions (new moon), taking inspired action (waxing moon), celebrating and giving gratitude (full moon), and releasing and going within (waning moon).
By following the moon every month, you’re touching on all aspects of self-care and manifestation.
DIVINATION
Common forms of divination that you could look into are oracle or tarot cards, pendulums, reading tea leaves, scrying, automatic writing, numerology, astrology, palmistry, dowsing, spirit dice, and runes...just to name a few.
CRYSTALS
Here is a small list of my top favorite crystals to work with:
Black tourmaline: great for grounding.
Hematite: great stone for grounding and protection.
Amethyst: great to work with for clarity that comes though in sessions.
Selenite: great for connecting with a higher source. It helps lift the energy and opens that pathway for higher communication.
Lepidolite: this is a stone for change, so if you’re going through anything or making changes in your life, this is an amazing crystal to have on hand.
Rose quartz: Use it for helping me to grow in love for self and for calming myself down.
WORKING WITH SPIRIT GUIDES, FAMILIARS, AND COMPANIONS
Every day...all day!! Getting yourself connected to and working with your spirit team of guides, angels, ancestors, ascended masters, familiars, and spirit companions is essential, in my opinion, for living a magickal life!
You can check out the custom companions that I have available to work with and get more info on how to work with them HERE.
ENERGY WORK & SPELLS...duh.
The biggest witchy element you could add to your self-care routine is working with energy.
My formula: Intention + Action = Magick.
Simple right?!?
Here is the short, no-frills process for how to cast a spell:
Get very clear on what you want to bring into your life. How you want to FEEL, what to you want to BE, what do you want to HAVE?
Visualize what you want. Here is where a lot of people will get "it" wrong. Yes, you want to have an end goal, but you want to visualize the entire process to getting there .... and beyond!
Most spellwork adds an element of ritual, such as working with the energy of a certain herb for example and doing something with it, such as burning it, burying it, or keeping it under your pillow.
As with all things, you are the true power and magick. There's nothing more that you need other than your own clear mind in order to move energy and create your reality.
HEARTH & KITCHEN MAGICK
It’s basically making your house a home and sanctuary by sprinkling love and magic throughout.
Think...energy clearing, cozy spaces, plants, intentional use of specific herbs and spices in cooking, and decor throughout the home that inspires you and connects to you emotionally...it's all magick! Your whole home is an altar!!
As you can see, there are so many different ways to sprinkle magick into your mundane life to help support you and your self care too. It's always about how YOU feel about it, what YOU connect to, and how YOU feel is right to work your energy bending talents. You do you witchypoo!!
Here is a great 12 week self care journal that you can download for yourself!
I hope that you make every day a magickal one for yourself and if you'd like to surround yourself with some amazing like-minded people, be sure to join my private Witchful Ways of Mindful Magick Facebook group too!
